What if we think of a city that does not preserve any traditions…
Endtradition is a “utopian” city where residents who come from diverse backgrounds, ethnicities, religions, and languages, live together in harmony in a vibrant and colorful community. Being located on an island, it is surrounded by nature. Cultural diversity and nature are paramount. Endtradition thrives on the principles of cultural self-determination and environmental care. This harmony is created by Endtradion’s mode of blending and merging traditions and cultural distinctions in ever new combinations, allowing people to live fully in the present and future.
From birth, residents are exposed to, adapt and experiment with habits in a playful, ongoing process. Ancestral traditions serve only as fleeting connections to the past, a stepping stone to jump from, inspiring new habits, but quickly forgotten without attachment or regret. Change is the guiding principle, and memory holds no significant value.
How can institutions – generally based on the principle of passing on traditions and knowledge from the past – be conceived in this setting?
