Where does Europe begin and Where does Europe end
Does Europe begin with a sense of superiority towards other cultures and creatures, making us deaf to their language and incapable of understanding it? Or does it begin with humility and the desire to listen, pushing us to encounter otherness... even when it implies sacrificing something of ourselves, our time, our certainties? Within parts of Europe, especially within the EU, efforts have been made to integrate a multilingual approach to communicating with each other. Could these efforts be strengthened? And could Europe learn from these efforts and apply the respect of diversity also on those who come from elsewhere? Europe begins with an openness towards other people, their cultures and languages, it would be a shame if it ends where it begins and restricts this openness only to some people, cultures and languages.
